Cyngn Inc. today announced that Alta Equipment Group Inc. has joined its dealer network. Alta, which sells materials handling and construction equipment, will add Cyngn’s autonomous DriveMod Tugger to its offerings. The DriveMod Tugger bundles Cyngn’s autonomy technology with Motrec International Inc.’s MT-160 vehicle.
“Alta has an impressive record of sales, and we are thrilled to have Cyngn’s autonomous vehicles included in their catalog,” stated Lior Tal, CEO of Cyngn. “Motrec’s industrial vehicles are renowned for their high towing capacity and reliability.”
“With their extensive dealer coverage across North America, we are excited to equip Alta with the tools and training needed to offer our self-driving industrial vehicles to their customers,” he added. “Their success is integral to our success.”
Cyngn makes moves in AMR space
Cyngn’s Enterprise Autonomy Suite includes DriveMod for patented vehicle autonomy, Cyngn Insight for customer visibility into fleet operations, and Cyngn Evolve for its internal simulation and artificial intelligence. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company said its DriveMod Kit can be installed on new vehicles or via retrofit, reducing upfront costs or the need to replace existing vehicle investments.
The expansion of its dealer network is just the latest of Cyngn’s moves as it offers self-driving systems it claimed can help customers mitigate labor shortages, safety incidents, and shifting e-commerce demand. Last year, Cyngn launched the DriveMod Tugger and an autonomous BYD forklift. It added Auto-unhitch capability in February 2024.
The Cyngn Dealer Network, launched late last year, in May added RobotLab, which has deployed more than 10,000 robots. Last month, Cyngn said it is using NVIDIA‘s accelerated computing and CUDA software with DriveMod to enhance perception, mapping, and localization for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
Last week, the company announced a reverse stock split to regain compliance with Nasdaq’s $1 minimum bid price requirement. In a prior letter to investors, Tal expressed confidence in Cyngn despite economic pressures, given its accomplishments. He also noted that the company’s systems are being used by industrial customers such as U.S. Continental, Rivian, and John Deere.
Alta adds DriveMod to wide portfolio
Alta Equipment Group said it owns and operates one of the largest integrated equipment dealership platforms in North America, with 85 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Through its branch network, the Livonia, Mich.-based company sells, rents, and provides parts and service for lift trucks and other material handling equipment.
It also supports environmental-processing equipment, construction equipment, and allied products. Alta has operated as an equipment dealership for 40 years and said it offers :a one-stop-shop” through its broad product portfolio.
Alta said it decided to join Cyngn’s Dealer Network after a successful summit at Cyngn’s Menlo Park headquarters, where key decision-makers saw the company’s AMRs firsthand.
“We know of several customers who would greatly benefit from the DriveMod Tugger,” said Marc Breton, vice president of sales at vehicle manufacturer Motrec. “Autonomous industrial vehicle technology is already making a significant impact at manufacturing and logistics facilities, and we’ve gotten a great response from our sales channels to introducing an automated version of a tried and true high-tow capacity vehicle like the MT-160 that is known for its quality.”
Cyngn said it plans to continue expanding its dealer network by adding more distribution and integration partners in the future.
