Berkshire Grey and Locus Robotics join forces to maximize cross-platform robotic automation

Berkshire Grey, Inc. and Locus Robotics have made their partnership official by showing off a solution that combines the Berkshire Grey Robotic Shuttle Put Wall (BG RSPWi) with the Locus Origin and Locus Vector bots. This innovative integrated solution uses end-to-end robotic automation solutions for retail and eCommerce customers who want to increase their supply chain productivity and throughput while dealing with a growing labor shortage.

Continued problems with finding workers and keeping up with inflation continue to put more pressure on the supply chain and distribution systems. Retail and online businesses are finding it hard to keep up with growing customer demands, deal with supply chain problems, and keep costs under control. Customers want best-of-breed robotic automation solutions that are flexible and easy to integrate so that these problems can be solved and top-quality customer experiences can be given.

“Partnering with Berkshire Grey allows our customers to reap the benefits of enterprise-level robotic automation across some of their most business-critical supply chain processes,” said Mike Johnson, President at Locus Robotics. “Berkshire Grey and Locus Robotics have been operating in the supply chain industry for many years now, and it’s great to see us join forces to deliver seamlessly integrated, proven, and impactful automation solutions that help our customers grow and succeed, now and into the future.”

Steve Johnson, President and COO at Berkshire Grey agreed saying, “We have seen a growing number of customers asking for solutions that they can deploy holistically versus piecemeal innovation. Locus Robotics has a distinct value proposition in enabling greater flexibility in the supply chain industry with its robotic automation solutions. Now with Locus Robotics, we believe we can take our combined solutions to a wider market.”
This new solution helps stores and online businesses get the most out of their traffic by:

  • Providing a fast, packaged solution for filling orders and restocking stores
  • Processing a large number of SKUs, which is more than other options.
  • Creating an ecosystem for a fully automated, end-to-end supply chain
  • Adding to supply chain operations by making sure labor and costs are optimized

Berkshire Grey and Locus Robotics are also looking into how their Robotic Product Sortation (BG RPS), Robotic Shuttle Product Sortation (BG RSPS), and Robotic Pick and Pack for eCommerce Autobagging systems could work together in the future (BG RPPi). With this complete set of robotic solutions, businesses can fully automate their order fulfillment, auto-bagging, and store restocking while seeing immediate ROI and throughput improvements.

Locus Robotics reportedly recorded more than 230 million picks during the 2022 holiday rush.
