Boulanger is a leading consumer electronics and home appliance retailer in France. The company wanted to maximize efficiency, mitigate peak season challenges, and gain operational agility, so it turned to the LocusOne hardware and software from Locus Robotics Corp.

Lesquin, France-based Boulanger said it is dedicated to providing high-quality products and customer service. Its commitment to innovation led it to seek scalable, high-performance fulfillment systems.

LocusOne includes artificial intelligence-driven software and the Locus Vector autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Wilmington, Mass.-based Locus Robotics claimed that its technology can easily integrate into existing warehouse environments to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and scale operations. The company has more than 150 retail, healthcare, and third-party logistics (3PL), and industrial customers at over 350 sites worldwide.

Locus was a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award winner for reaching 4 billion person-to-goods (P2G) picks, and it expects to pass 5 billion in the next few weeks. Learn more at the RBR50 Gala at the Robotics Summit & Expo.

LocusOne quickly delivers results

Boulanger needed to efficiently manage a wide range of electronics and appliances, distributing stock to more than 200 stores across France. The retailer deployed Locus AMRs, which are designed to safely collaborate with warehouse associates.

Implemented in under four months, LocusOne integrates with Boulanger’s warehouse management system (WMS) and existing material handling equipment (MHE) traffic. This ensured smooth operations without disrupting established workflows, Locus said.

The LocusOne deployment at Boulanger’s central Hénin-Beaumont warehouse delivered immediate efficiency improvements. Within just six weeks of going live, the retailer reported that its picking productivity had doubled. The companies listed key results:

  • 250+ units per hour: Within six weeks, productivity increased from 120 to over 250 units per hour.
  • Rapid deployment: From project initiation to go-live, Boulanger achieved full implementation in just five months.
  • High-volume fulfillment: Locus AMRs helped process early 9 million units in under a year, demonstrating efficiency.
  • Global support: Over 200 stores across the country are now supplied with a diverse range of consumer electronics components.
  • Dynamic scalability: Locus expanded its fleet by 30% within days to meet a sudden surge in demand.

“Our partnership with Locus Robotics has been a game-changer,” said Olivier Henin, warehouse process manager at Boulanger. “We saw an unexpected 30% surge in volumes, and Locus quickly scaled the fleet within days, ensuring we met demand without disruption.”

“With Locus Vector now CE-certified, we’re exploring additional workflows we can automate under LocusOne,” he added. “This agility allows us to dynamically adjust capacity, eliminating the need to invest in rigid, underutilized automation—critical as we celebrate our 70th anniversary with a major sales campaign ahead.”

Boulanger makes digital transition

With orchestrated automation, retailers can scale seamlessly and future-proof their fulfillment strategies in an increasingly dynamic market, asserted Locus Robotics. In its move to digitalization, Boulanger has joined a growing number of French retailers using intelligent automation, it said.

“This deployment marks a significant milestone in Boulanger’s digital transformation, transitioning from a fully manual operation to an advanced, flexible robotic solution that scales dynamically with demand,” said the company.

“Boulanger’s rapid transformation showcases how flexible automation can revolutionize fulfillment operations,” added Denis Niezgoda, chief commercial officer, international, at Locus Robotics. “By integrating LocusOne, Boulanger has gained the scalability, efficiency, and agility required to meet growing customer expectations. This deployment reinforces our commitment to supporting France’s evolving logistics landscape with intelligent, scalable automation solutions.”
