As efficiency and throughput demands grow at busy warehouses, operators are turning to technology to alleviate pain points such as accelerated fulfillment expectations and labor shortages. With robotics making significant inroads to warehouses in the past decade, one intriguing option for warehouse operators is mobile robots.
Composed of two primary groups – automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) – mobile robots can help warehouses deliver rapid efficiency improvements. In most cases, however, mobile robots are not a simple plug-and-play solution – to realize their full potential, warehouses will need to have the necessary infrastructure, partners, and skills in place to support their use.
In this release of WTWH’s The Automated Warehouse, we’ll take a close look at what steps warehouses must take to support mobile robot deployments, and how OEMs and suppliers can better serve their warehouse customers interested in exploring robotics.
