Cyngn Inc. announced yesterday that it has received a signed letter of intent from a major automotive supplier to sell and deploy its DriveMod Tugger in early 2025. The company said this demonstrates the continued traction of its Enterprise Autonomy Suite in heavy manufacturing.
“This milestone is another proof point of Cyngn’s automation solutions achieving product-market fit with the automotive industry,” said Lior Tal, the CEO of Cyngn. “Automotive manufacturers are among the top robotics adopters in the world because of the competitive advantage derived from automation in this high-volume, heavy manufacturing industry.”
Cyngn stated that it develops and deploys scalable, differentiated autonomous vehicle technology for industrial organizations. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company claimed that its self-driving systems allow existing workforces to increase productivity and efficiency.
Automaker to use autonomous DriveMod Tugger
The automotive supplier, which Cyngn declined to name at this time, will use multiple DriveMod Tuggers to streamline intra-facility logistics. The customer has several similar distribution and manufacturing facilities in North America alone.
“We hope to be able to share additional details on the customer and the nature of the deployment in the future,” said Tal.
The DriveMod Tuggers include artificial intelligence and a suite of safety features, including 360° vision and collision-avoidance systems. These enable navigation in complex environments, Cyngn said.
In addition, Cyngn Insight allows customers can remotely monitor and control fleets of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), ensuring efficient coordination and task execution in real time. Last month, the company said that its DriveMod Forklift could operate both indoors and outdoors.
Cyngn suite designed for new or existing vehicles
Menlo Park, Calif.-based Cyngn said it aims to deliver scalable autonomous solutions tailored to the evolving demands of modern manufacturing and logistics.
Its Enterprise Autonomy Suite includes the DriveMod system and the customer-facing Cyngn Insight for fleet management, teleoperation, and analytics. It also includes the Cyngn Evolve internal toolkit that enables the company to use data from the field for AI, simulation, and modeling.
In addition, Cyngn offers its DriveMod Kit, which can be installed on new industrial vehicles at end of line or via retrofit. It said this product enables customers to adopt self-driving technology into their operations without high upfront costs or the need to completely replace existing vehicle investments.
Just last week, Cyngn announced a new contract with a different automotive manufacturing customer. While the company said its forklift demonstrated its ability to work at a large facility.
Kennedy Robotics AI has joined Cyngn’s dealer network and will sell the DriveMod Tuggers. Cyngn today also announced that an unnamed defense contractor is also using the tuggers.
