EdgeNectar and Liftians Inc. this week said they have entered a strategic partnership to use EdgeNectar’s patented private 5G network technology to enhance Liftian’s mobile robots. The companies claimed that their collaboration will set “a new standard for operational efficiency and connectivity in automated logistics and warehousing.”
“Partnering with EdgeNectar aligns with our commitment to innovation and excellence in automated logistics solutions,” stated Jonathan Huang, CEO of Liftians. “Integrating private 5G connectivity will optimize Liftians’ AGVs’ efficiency and ensure seamless and secure communication across our clients’ facilities.”
Founded in 2016, Liftians provides software and hardware to helps small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) improve efficiency, cope with labor shortages, and reduce costs. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company said its automated guided vehicles (AGVs) provide support to warehouse management systems (WMS).
EdgeNectar applies AI to networking
Integrating with private 5G networks represents a growing trend in warehouse automation, asserted EdgeNectar and Liftians.
The private 5G network market could reach $36.08 billion by 2030, experiencing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 54.1% from 2024 to 2030, according to Grand View Research. This growth is driven by increasing demand for secure, high-speed, and low-latency communication required by AGVs and other industrial applications.
Founded in 2019, EdgeNectar provides private 5G and edge computing supporting private and public mobile networks for sites such as hospitals, airports, shopping centers, and universities. The San Jose, Calif.-based company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to simplify and automate network operations.
EdgeNectar said its network surpasses the capabilities of traditional Wi-Fi connectivity currently used as the industry standard. In addition, the company said it delivers a simple network management portal for core network, radio network, devices, and, in this case, AGVs.

5G to lift Liftians AGV performance
EdgeNectar said its patented AI and private 5G system will improve the performance of Liftians’ AGVs. It added that its network will help robots in mission-critical, high-demand environments such as warehouses.
Some of the key benefits of this partnership include:
- Ultra-low latency: EdgeNectar said it provides near-instantaneous communication critical for real-time AGV operations in dynamic environments.
- Enhanced data throughput: The company’s higher data transfer rates support advanced analytics and real-time decision-making.
- Increased security and reliability: Dedicated, secure connections, like those EdgeNectar provides, could reduce the risk of interference and cyber threats.
- Cost-effective: Private 5G requires fewer radio base stations, reducing the overall cost. In a large warehouse, only two base stations are required for private 5G, compared with 50 access points with traditional Wi-Fi. 5G networks reduce long-term operational costs through efficient network management and decreased need for hardware infrastructure, especially for large-scale operations.
- Future-proof: EdgeNectar said its 5G network infrastructure can seamlessly support emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and edge computing.
- Improved scalability: EdgeNectar’s private 5G network supports devices from a few hundred to several hundreds of thousands of subscribers, facilitating the expansion of AGV fleets.
“Our partnership with Liftians aligns perfectly with EdgeNectar’s mission to enhance and extend enterprise customers’ capability to connect people, devices, and information anywhere, anytime, with guaranteed security and quality of service,” said Ken Zhang, co-founder and CEO of EdgeNectar.
“This integration with Liftians brings us closer to redefining connectivity and performance standards in automated logistics, addressing the evolving needs of enterprise customers for rapid and accurate order fulfillment,” he said.
This collaboration promises to advance AGV connectivity and performance for warehouses and supply chains nationwide, said EdgeNectar and Liftians.
