EVERSANA, a global commercial service provider for the life sciences industry, last week announced plans to open a new distribution center. The facility will use autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, from Locus Robotics Corp.
This latest distribution center expands EVERSANA’s third-party logistics (3PL) pharmaceutical operations, allowing it to meet growing client needs. The 358,000-sq.-ft. (33,359.2 sq. m), cGDP-certified distribution center is next to the company‘s current campus in Memphis, Tenn.
“The interest and demand for our 3PL and channel services has rapidly grown,” stated Jim Lang, the CEO of EVERSANA. “Our track record of quality and customer satisfaction is unmatched, and as we continue to invest in how we can serve the needs of clients today and tomorrow, we’re bringing the latest in technology automation to even further improve speed, accuracy, and most importantly, patient outcomes.”
The new facility adds 35% more operational controlled room temperature (CRT) capacity across all EVERSANA sites and brings the company’s total 3PL footprint to more than 1.25 million sq. ft. (116,128 sq. m).
EVERSANA responds to growing need for automated logistics
The new facility now includes a new warehouse management system (WMS) from Datex in addition to Locus’ robots. EVERSANA said the new WMS and the AMRs will increase warehouse accuracy and operational throughput.
Both will be deployed across all EVERSANA 3PL facilities to improve processes, reduce manually intensive activities, and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the operation while improving employee engagement.
To meet growing pharmaceutical needs for biologics and complex therapeutics, EVERSANA is also increasing its cold chain capabilities with an additional 30,000 sq. ft. (2,787 sq. m) of refrigerated and frozen storage capacity. It said this addition represents more than a 100% increase in scale to serve a rapidly growing segment in the pharmaceutical industry.
These expansions are the latest in a series of strategic investments that have more than doubled EVERSANA’s 3PL footprint over the past six years. In April 2019, EVERSANA announced the expansion of its cold chain storage capabilities, followed by the opening of a new 260,000 sq. ft. (24,154 sq. m) facility in Memphis later that year.
Locus logs billions of picks
The Locus Origin AMRs can perform picking, putaway, and transportation tasks. Its robots and software are designed to reduce the amount of walking warehouse workers need to do during their workday while also improving efficiency and reducing costs.
Wilmington, Mass.-based Locus Robotics won a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award, its eighth, for marking 4 billion robot-assisted picks. Just last week, it surpassed 5 billion picks across its worldwide deployments. The company‘s AMRs run on the AI-powered LocusONE platform.
Kait Peterson, the company’s vice president of product marketing, will be speaking in a session on “Case Studies: How Automation Is Changing the Warehouse” at the Robotics Summit & Expo this week.
