This week, Gather AI announced Christopher Visnic as its new head of sales and Li Wu as its new head of finance. The drone-based inventory system provider aims to eliminate human error, reduce shrinkage, increase facility throughput, and improve accuracy. It does this with automated data collection and AI-based insights.

“Today marks a significant expansion of Gather AI’s commercial and leadership team as we welcome Christopher Visnic and Li Wu,” stated Sankalp Arora, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of Gather AI. “They each have a results-driven approach to go-to-market strategies and have made important contributions to supply chain and AI companies, Seegrid Corp., Armada.ai, and others.”

“They join other recent Gather AI hires, including CTO Andrew Hoffman (Kiva Systems founding engineer) and Head of Marketing Larisa Summers (former Optoro CMO), helping us further solidify a leadership team with deep supply chain expertise,” he wrote. “We’re excited for 2025 and beyond, as we continue to bring the most advanced and seamless inventory intelligence to our customers.”

Gather AI collects actionable data

Gather AI said its vision technology enables inventory drones to fly autonomously through warehouses with no GPS, Wi-Fi, or infrastructure changes needed.

Then, the company’s machine learning algorithm analyzes inventory pictures and reads and interprets far beyond barcodes. This includes reading lot codes, text, expiration dates, case counts, and occupancy information. Gather AI claimed that its customers typically see an return on investment (ROI) of 3 to 5x, driven by up to 70% reduction in inventory errors.

In November 2024, Gather AI expanded into freezer and cold storage warehouse environments. This means its drones can now count temperature-sensitive items.

The company asserted that its freezer and cold storage inventory capability is an industry first. With drones doing the counting, employees can comfortably view the results from a dashboard away from the cold, it said.

Meet Gather AI’s latest hires

Visnic, Gather AI’s head of sales, has successfully led the commercial growth of early-stage companies. Specifically, he has worked in machine learning automation and computer-aided engineering software.

At Seegrid, an autonomous material handling equipment (MHE) company, Viscnic led the commercial business and grew revenue from around $5 million to over $70 million with profitability. He achieved this in a five-year period, according to Gather AI.

Visnic has also held leadership positions at Autodesk, IQity Solutions (acquired by Oracle Netsuite), Ciespace Corp. (acquired by ESI Group), Ansys Corp. (acquired by Synopsys), and HDS Global.

He holds two degrees from Carnegie Mellon University: a B.S. in civil engineering and a M.S. in structural and computational mechanics.

Wu, Gather AI’s new head of finance, is an accomplished finance executive. He has more than a decade of experience in advising and scaling technology startups. As chief financial officer, he has led high-growth companies across the payments, B2B SaaS, and AI sectors, including Armada.ai, Frameplay, and AcmeTicketing.

Wu’s expertise spans strategic financial leadership, driving growth and profitability, and fostering innovation in dynamic environments.

Earlier in his career, he held senior finance roles at PayPal and KPMG. There, he led teams and managed operations across U.S., Europe, and Asia. Wu earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer) and a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
