Geek+ launches SkyCube pallet-to-person system at cold chain facility

Geekplus Technology Co. has launched SkyCube, its first pallet-to-person system. The company designed it to automate warehouse operations across frozen and chilled zones.

The system is now live at a 2,700 sq. m (29,062.5 sq. ft.) flagship facility operated by JJCL (Jinjiang Cold Logistics), a leading cold-chain logistics provider. Geek+ said it enables seamless pallet movement between environments ranging from -18°C to +5°C (-0.4°F to 41°F).

“Cold chain logistics is no longer the exception to automation. It’s the next frontier,” said Liu Kai, head of system at Geek+. “Our systems are built to perform where other systems fail. With our multi-temp-compatible robotics, we’re redefining how food, pharma, and grocery warehouses scale reliably and efficiently.”

Geek+ addresses underserved market

While automation has transformed much of logistics, cold storage facilities have lagged behind because of extreme conditions and technical barriers. Geek+ said SkyCube includes frost-resistant engineering and a coordinated fleet of high-density pallet storage robots operating at -18°C, P800 robots in chilled zones (0°C to 5°C), high-speed lifts, and a unified software platform built for continuous operation in sub-zero environments.

The company, which has offices in Beijing and San Diego, has put an increasing emphasis on cold-storage automation. In April, it partnered with TAHUHU, a cold chain logistics provider, to transform its Hong Kong warehouse into a facility powered by robotics. The company deployed Geek+ autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), low-temperature four-way shuttle robots, and automated vertical lifts at the facility.

Geek+ said its systems can automate warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, and sorting. The company said it can help customers worldwide improve productivity, efficiency, and flexibility. It won a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award for its deployment with Unilever.

Inside the first SkyCube deployment

With seven subsidiary branches and 11 cold storage facilities totaling over 560,000 cubic meters (approximately 20 million cubic feet), JJCL partnered with Geek+ to modernize its operations and meet growing demand.

Geek+ said it integrated the multi-level automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) with ground and upper-level picking technology. It can also integrate with other intelligent equipment, such as an unstacking machine, an automatic wrapper or packer, or a robotic arm, to realize an unmanned smart warehouse.

Since deployment, JJCL said the ASRS has increased storage capacity by 70%, improved picking efficiency by 90%, and achieved 99.99% accuracy. It has also enhanced safety by minimizing human exposure to extreme sub-zero temperatures through full automation of cold zone handling.

Geek+ said its technology is suitable for industries such as retail, third-party logistics (3PL), fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals, and automotive.

“As global demand for cold chain services accelerates, the launch provides a scalable blueprint for 3PLs, food distributors, and pharma companies navigating compliance, labor challenges, and operational risk,” Liu added. “This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a category shift.”
