This month, Guozi Robotics Co. and Staples Inc. celebrated the ninth year of their strategic partnership. Over the course of this collaboration, the two companies have signed two strategic cooperation agreements, and Guozi has supplied Staples with more than 1,000 robots.
These robots include a wide range of picking automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and have been deployed in key warehouse locations such as Charlotte, N.C., Pennsylvania, Denver, and New York.
“The robots have been reliable partners in my work — they are efficient, stable, easy to use, and simple to maintain,” stated an unnamed Staples Pennsylvania warehouse equipment manager. “They have boosted our productivity, and Guozi’s service is excellent. I look forward to continuing to work with these robots in the future.”
Guozi Robotics offers AGVs and software
Guozi Robotics has developed mobile robots for logistics and manufacturing. Its robots are equipped with full-scenario intelligent navigation, multi-agent dispatching, flexible collaboration, and interaction capabilities. The Zhejiang , China-based company claimed that it has provided robots to over 1,000 customers in 20 different countries.
Guozi’s product portfolio includes lifting AGVs, automated forklifts, picking robots, and larger heavy-carry AGVs. It said it holds more than 1,500 patents, including multiple Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) international patents.
Guozi Robotics said it has developed a comprehensive series of picking AGV products, including double-deep reach, adaptive, and dual-mast models. The company’s self-developed integrated software, GRACE Xpress, offers full-process simulation, which it said significantly shortens on-site deployment cycles.
It also includes AI-powered adaptive location calibration, using deep learning algorithms to rapidly improve storage positioning accuracy during AGV operation. In addition, Guozi said its robots allow for customized integration with users’ upper-level business systems.
Staples still using same robots after 10 years
Framingham, Mass.-based Staples said many of its Guozi robots are still operating reliably after nearly a decade, and they continue to play a vital role in its distribution centers. The office supplies retailer said the robots have helped reduce picking labor by 60% and cut picking staff workload by 50%, significantly improving both picking efficiency and accuracy, and delivering measurable operational gains.
Staples has experience with other automation. Last year, it deployed RightPick systems from RightHand Robotics.
Guozi Robotics said it has established a deep partnership with Staples to co-develop intelligent stations where robotic arms fully replace manual picking. AI algorithms continuously optimize picking efficiency and accuracy.
In the next phase of their collaboration, Guozi and Staples said they will focus on:
- Integrating humanoid robots and dexterous hands to upgrade station picking methods.
- Automating packaging and sorting processes, targeting contactless verification and autonomous packing to achieve a completely unmanned warehouse ecosystem.
