Automated storage and retrieval systems, or ASRS, are more infrastructure-intensive than mobile robots, but they offer density and throughput and are still spreading across warehouses. Kardex Holding AG this month announced that it deployed its 100th AutoStore site in September.
“This is more than a number; it’s a testament to the dedication of our team, the trust of our customers, and the strength of our long-term partnership with AutoStore,” stated Daniel Hauser, head of the Kardex AS Solutions AG business unit. “It also reflects our ability to scale quickly and sustainably, while delivering measurable value across industries.”
Zurich-based Kardex Holding offers integrated material handling systems, order-fulfillment products, and flexible ASRS. The company said its automated products, standardized intralogistics systems, and lifecycle services guarantee high availability and low total cost of ownership (TCO).
Kardex Holding employs around 2,500 people in more than 30 countries and been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange since 1989. It launched the solutions unit in early 2021.
Kardex integrates ASRS worldwide
Kardex said it has quickly established itself as a key integration partner in the global ecosystem of Nedre Vats, Norway-based AutoStore. From its very first customer project for Arbeitsschutz-Express, one of Germany’s leading e-commerce players, the business unit claimed that it has demonstrated consistent growth, solution expertise, and customer focus.
The company said it supports AutoStore customers in sectors such as third-party logistics (3PL), retail, manufacturing, and automotive, with a focus on fast implementation, modular growth, and long-term system performance.
In addition to its integration capabilities, Kardex asserted that it has steadily enhanced its purpose-built FulfillX warehouse execution system (WES), drawing on years of investment and automation expertise.
AutoStore systems powered by Kardex operate in 20 countries. U.S. sites include Kentucky, Las Vegas, Seattle, Ohio, Houston, Detroit, Illinois, New Jersey, and Mississippi. The company has offices in Westbrook, Maine, and Paoli Penn.

Milestone marks innovation, consistency
Rhenus Group, a global logistics provider, ordered the ASRS at Kardex’s site No. 100. With extensions of existing systems, the company said it now has more than 120 projects around the world.
“This 100-site milestone underscores the strength of our partnership with AutoStore and our dedication to delivering transformative automation across the region,” noted Fred Fox, president of Kardex Solutions. “The innovation coming from our teams — such as the Intuitive Picking Assistant (IPA), which takes AutoStore picking processes to the next level — enables us to support customers through every phase of their growth.”
“Our rapid expansion reflects not only the strength of our AutoStore offering, but also our ability to execute with consistency and care,” he added.
