From automated storage and picking to packout, Kardex Holding AG announced several offerings for warehouse operators at ProMat last week. The Zurich-based company is a partner of automated storage and retrieval system, or ASRS, provider AutoStore Holdings Ltd.
“We’re one of seven AutoStore partners, and we’re the fastest-growing one,” said Mitch Hayes, president of Kardex Solutions Americas. “We want to be No. 1 globally by 2027.”
Kardex said it is the first integrator for AutoStore’s CarouselAI, its first piece-picking system, which was developed with Berkshire Grey.
The company added that its ASRS, integrated materials handling systems, small parts storage systems, and automated high-bay warehouses offer flexible and modular storage and order fulfillment. Kardex employs about 2,500 people, including 75 in the U.S., and it has deployed systems to 87 logistics sites.

Kardex provides pickers with smarter assistance
“How can we get more product density and accuracy in bins?” asked Hayes.
The new Optical State Capture feature for Kardex’s Intuitive Picking Assistant (IPA) uses an overhead camera to capture data for performance and process analysis. It projects information directly on the picking station to help human associates improve accuracy.
“It can detect reaches and improve cycle counts,” Hayes told Automated Warehouse. “The system can also capture relationships within a bin cube to catch exceptions. IPA can replay bin touches to maximize productivity.”
Also to help pickers, Kardex’s strategic partnership with Paccurate integrates intelligent cartonization into FulfillX. The system tells pickers what to pick, and Paccurate’s platform determines optimal box dimensions and generates packing instructions.

Operators get help with optimization, ROI estimates
Kardex has upgraded its FulfillX warehouse execution system (WES) with integration with Power BI for custom reporting, on-demand order picking for urgent requests, and enhanced inventory tracking. The company said it enables AutoStore systems to ramp up faster and can meet or exceed business requirements in as little as six months.
“Our focus remains on simplifying the design and deployment of AutoStore systems — whether it’s optimizing picking and packing workflows in the Kardex FulfillX WES (KFX) or introducing new tools like the StoreX Calculator,” Hayes stated. “We want to take AutoStore to the next level.”
Speaking of return on investment (ROI), Kardex also launched its StoreX Calculator for simulating the operational benefits of its and AutoStore’s technology, based on the customer’s order volume, storage capacity needs, and labor requirements. It launched StoreX at NRF earlier this year.
