Körber Supply Chain Software and the Walbusch Group are expanding their partnership at Walbusch’s 76,000-square-meter site in Ravenna Park, Halle (Westphalia), Germany.
Walbusch’s decision to invest in automated, software-driven logistics for more efficient customer fulfillment pushed it to expand its logistics capacity. To do this, it chose Körber’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) to increase throughput at the highly automated logistics site.
Körber’s WMS is a highly adaptable, mobile-enabled system. The company said it efficiently manages all processes, inventories, and resources inside the warehouse or distribution center, helping to drive results.
“Top logistics requires top performance, which is only possible thanks to distinctive system and integration features. The continued cooperation with Körber is a sustainable partnership characterized by continuity – but also innovation in order to map the change in our business processes in logistics.” Thomas Mathes, a member of the Executive Board and the Head of Logistics Projects at Walbusch, said.
Körber Supply Chain Software GmbH is a joint venture of global technology provider Körber AG and KKR. KKR is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management, capital markets, and insurance solutions. In October, it completed its acquisition of MercuryGate International Inc., a provider of transportation management systems (TMS).
Körber builds on a long-standing partnership
The Ravenna Park logistics site has been using the WMS from Körber Supply Chain Software since its commissioning in 2015. Since 2021, Walbusch subsidiary WB Logistik GmbH and Körber have been collaborating on improving efficiencies at the site. This includes mapping the new multi-client architecture.
This cooperation has now been expanded to facilitate improved efficiencies in the existing B2B processes and newly established B2C processes. Körber is working with WB Logistik to build on existing IT processes, make technological adjustments, and implement changes to process structures.
“We have built a deep relationship with the team at WB Logistik, our goal is to always understand their desired outcomes and build the right solution together,” explains Dirk Teschner, Senior Vice President, and Managing Director of Germany at Körber. “The shared insight and aligned goals have provided integrated software and automation solutions that meet the growing demands of online and store-based retail for today and tomorrow.”
While B2B logistics focus on bulk and large quantities, B2C logistics handle a growing number of individual orders. In the future, both sales channels will be served by a fully automated conveying process. At the same time, each individual item will be localized using RFID technology. In 2026, the site will launch high-throughput operations.
