LG Business Solutions USA Inc. announced around MODEX that it’s collaborating with SVT Robotics Inc. to deploy LG’s new CLOi CarryBot autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, in U.S. warehouses. SVT said its SOFTBOT platform comes with prebuilt integrations to enable AMRs to connect with virtually any warehouse management software, or WMS.
SOFTBOT enables LG CLOi CarryBot customers to quickly deploy new robots without the need for custom code, reducing risk and minimizing IT burden, according to Tom Bingham, senior director at LG Business Solutions USA.
“Autonomous robotics are creating new opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, productivity, profitability and employee wellbeing,” he said in a release. “We sought out SVT Robotics because of the vital role warehouse technology providers play in streamlining warehouse operations, as well as the need for robotic solutions to be fully integrated and compatible with existing systems including WMS and WES [warehouse execution systems].”
“Our work with SVT Robotics has simplified CLOi CarryBot integration to nearly a plug-and-play process by providing proven, tested integration software that eliminates the need for IT teams to depend on custom-coded approaches.”
SOFTBOT streamlines hardware, software integration
SVT Robotics said its SOFTBOT platform streamlines integration between hardware and software partners. This can include WMSes, WESes, material control systems, vertical lifts, packaging automation, and more, said the Norfolk, Va.-based company.
These capabilities enable organizations to scale and adapt to changing business requirements, while still driving innovation and lowering the total cost of ownership, according to SVT. SOFTBOT also gives IT team access to system health across multiple technologies and facilities from one dashboard, empowering them to monitor and troubleshoot to maximize uptime, it said.
“SVT Robotics’ goal is to accelerate and simplify deployment of robotics in environments where minutes of downtime can equal thousands of dollars for businesses,” noted A.K. Schultz, co-founder and CEO of SVT. “And we’re looking forward to doing just that for the new LG CLOi CarryBots. Whether a warehouse is introducing its first robot or its hundredth, the SOFTBOT Platform will enable LG customers to easily onboard, monitor and optimize the technology.”
LG Business Solutions builds for various warehouse applications
Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based LG launched its CLOi CarryBot in the U.S. earlier this month. The AMR can move up to 1.2 m (3.9 ft.) per second with 18 hours of runtime and a six-hour charge time, according to the company.
Users can operate up to 100 CarryBots in unison, operating them in spaces of any size and complexity, said LG. The robots also feature a 9.2-in. color touchscreen that provides information and control options, the company said.
LG also offers a rolltainer-type CarryBot that has wide, deep shelves for larger items. In addition, its smaller mounting-type CarryBot can fit into tighter spaces.
The CLOi CarryBot can be programmed for various floor plans, according to LG. Users can customize pickup and delivery points, which enables precise navigation, multi-point deliveries, and AI-enhanced decision-making that streamlines deliveries when multiple AMRs are servicing a single zone.
