Locus Robotics, a developer of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for warehouses, has broken ground for its new global headquarters in Willmington, MA. The facility will span almost 200,000 square feet, or 18,580 square meters, and will serve as the hub for Locus’ expanding global operations.

“We’re thrilled to break ground on our new headquarters in Wilmington,” Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics, said in a release. “This is a significant milestone that reflects our robust growth trajectory and our dedication to revolutionizing the warehouse automation sector with cutting-edge, AI-driven robotics solutions.”

The new facility will house Locus’ dynamic team of engineering, manufacturing, and operations professionals dedicated to driving innovation in robotics warehouse automation, and will provide room for future expansion and growth of the company.

“Our new facility will stimulate job creation and innovation within the region, aligning with our vision of fostering world-class technological advancement and economic growth,” Faulk said.

The last year for Locus Robotics has been filled with growth. In May 2023, the company expanded its partnership with DHL Supply Chain to deploy 5,000 more AMRs across multiple sites. In December, Locus recorded more than 230 million picks during the holiday rush alone.

In November 2022, Locus brought in $117 million in funding for its AMRs. The Series F funding round was led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and G2 Venture Partners. And in September 2022, the company passed 1 billion units picked, an achievement that earned Locus a 2023 RBR50 award from our sister publication Robotics Business Review.

The company says that its new headquarters will lay a solid foundation for the company’s continuous growth and future innovations, and affirm its position as a global leader in warehouse automation.
