Schneider Electric, a developer of energy management and automation technologies, today introduced two new products. It launched TeSys Deca Advanced, a contactor system designed for motor management, and Modicon Edge I/O NTS, an input/output system for data aggregation.
Rueil-Malmaison, France-based Schneider Electric provides integrated artificial intelligence-enabled industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems through its connected products, software, and services.
TeSys Deca Advanced reduces emissions and costs
Schneider said it designed the TeSys Deca Advanced with a streamlined wiring system and advanced digital capabilities for a range of industrial applications. It features wide-band coil technology, capable of accepting control voltage inputs from 24V to 500V AC/DC.
According to the company, this feature not only withstands voltage fluctuations but also minimizes energy consumption, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions and operational costs.
“Innovation is essential in the design of material handling, packaging, and logistics machinery as OEMs strive to meet the rapidly changing demands of this expanding industry,” said Antonio Di Vaira, senior vice presidents of the Power Products NAM Hub at Schneider Electric.
“With the new TeSys Deca Advanced, we’re excited to help machine builders optimize their solutions, reducing space and energy requirements,” he added. “It’s all about pairing advanced digital capabilities with operational simplicity, making their work easier and more efficient.”
The contactor can also simplify installation and maintenance processes. Its ergonomic three-layer setup organizes wiring for optimal visibility and accessibility, making maintenance and troubleshooting easier and more convenient, said Schneider Electric.
With one-click connection technology, installation efforts can be reduced by up to 75%, allowing for rapid deployment, the company asserted. In addition, it said the wide-band coil technology reduces complexity in selection and inventory management, facilitating smoother operations.
Schneider engineered the TeSys Deca Advanced for reliability, putting it through rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance. It has a 100 kA short-circuit current rating with circuit breakers for additional flexibility.
Modicon Edge I/O NTS preps customers for future challenges
Modicon Edge I/O NTS is the latest distributed IP20 I/O system from Schneider Electric. It allows industrial customers to meet the needs of a variety of applications, ranging from simple to the most demanding, the company said.
All within a single I/O family, these applications include production machinery, discrete manufacturing, and continuous process industries. Machine builders, systems integrators, and industrial end users can use the new Modicon Edge I/O NTS in machinery, packaging, food and beverage, life sciences, water/wastewater, mining, minerals, metals, critical infrastructure, data centers, energy, and chemicals.
Using open Ethernet protocols to deliver connectivity to a variety of devices and architectures, Edge I/O NTS embeds data intelligence in the latest technologies to deliver better performance, availability, and cybersecurity, said Schneider Electric. The company said this will help its customers with current challenges while preparing them for the future.
The use of internal communication of Edge I/O NTS OPC UA technology enables secure communication and interoperability of the various Ethernet protocols.
Schneider touts benefits of Modicon Edge I/O NTS
Schneider said that with the Modicon Edge I/O NTS, machine builders, system integrators, and industrial end users can expect to:
- Save time from pre-sales to operations, with adaptive tools, simpler design and wiring, quicker startup of new machines and processes for less time to market.
- Cut costs and reduce mean time to repair and unplanned downtime given the system’s robust design featuring environmentally hardened options, hot-swap capabilities, and integrated diagnostics.
- Increase flexibility with the ability to customize I/O islands and get the most from the system’s compact design — realizing more I/O modules and more functionality in less space.
- Prepare for the future of data-driven industries, thanks to the system’s compliance with cybersecurity regulations, allowing end users to securely access and integrate the data they need to optimize industrial efficiency, agility, sustainability, and profitability.
“Edge I/O NTS not only provides a very strong and superior catalog for I/O for our customers to build their solutions today, but it also prepares them for the future,” said Grant Van Hemert, U.S. senior offer manager of digital factory at Schneider Electric. “Customers are more prepared for advancing digitization, ensuring better and transparent data management, and adapting to the future of Industry 4.0.”
