Schnucks Deploys Tennant T380AMR Robotic Floor Scrubbers

Schnucks, a leading Midwest grocery chain, has recently selected the new Tennant T380AMR robotic scrubbers, powered by Brain Corp BrainOS, and is planning to have autonomous cleaning robots in more than half its stores by the end of the year. The T380AMR is a smaller footprint and is more agile than its larger sibling, the T7AMR, making it an ideal choice for cleaning smaller stores.

“These new robotic scrubbers will enhance cleaning performance, while giving valuable time back to teammates so they can spend more time doing what is most important: serving our customers,” said Kim Anderson, Senior Director Store Operations Support at Schnucks. “Robotics and technology are important tools for helping us improve in-store experiences and achieve our customer-first values.”

The new Tennant T380AMR was announced a week ago, and this story highlights the immediate acceptance of the machine by Schnucks for its smaller stores. Tennant autonomous floor scrubbers are powered by Brain Corp controls and with this release, Brain Corp is launching a new user experience (UX) design and improved reporting capabilities.

For customers such as Schnucks, the new reporting capabilities make it easier to use and manage the robots across multiple store locations. Not only can the onsite store manager see the performance of the onsite machines, but the overall efficiency of the regional fleet can also be managed. Through its global manufacturing partners, Brain Corp currently operates more than 14,000 AMRs worldwide—the largest fleet of its kind operating in high-traffic commercial indoor locations.

“Our goal is to make BrainOS-powered robots dead simple to use for any global audience and to help end customers better collect and leverage robotic data so they deliver better customer experiences,” said Jon Thomason, CTO of Brain Corp. “This new release extends the value of our platform and sets the bar for what users should expect from their investment in autonomous robots.”

The demand and usage of BrainOS-powered autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) has increased significantly this year as retailers and other businesses try to adjust to heightened cleaning requirements in the wake of COVID-19.

  • This year, BrainOS-powered AMRs have freed up about 2.4 million hours of productivity for workers in retail, grocery, commercial offices, malls, and other high-traffic public locations—up from 331,000 hours during the same period last year.
