Singapore-based SESTO Robotics is expanding into Europe, through a partnership with Germany-based automation specialist Baumüller. This relationship brings SESTO’s Magnus AMR platform to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. SESTO is the first Singapore-based robotics company to offer autonomous mobile robot solutions focused on smart manufacturing in Europe.
SESTO Robotics Magnus is an AMR platform for a variety of applications
Magnus is specially built for navigation in space-scarce facilities and can travel autonomously through spaces as narrow as 0.9 meters wide while avoiding obstacles in its path. Its bi-directional, same-speed capability allows the AMR to reverse out of dead ends without the need to perform a spot turn. SESTO Magnus can carry a maximum payload of 300 kg (660 lb) and has a 10 hr battery life. There is more than enough power to operate active payloads attached to the top of Magnus.
“Through our partnership with Baumüller, we will bring our Singapore designed AMR solution to the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in Europe. With Magnus, Baumüller will help businesses automate material transportation for a wide variety of applications, including intralogistics, machine assembly, testing and diagnostic technology,” said Ang Chor-Chen, Chief Executive of SESTO Robotics.
Baumüller provides sales channel and support in Europe
Based in Nuremberg, Baumüller is a manufacturer of electric drive and automation systems. At production sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and China as well as in over 40 branches worldwide, around 1,900 employees develop and produce intelligent system solutions for machine manufacturing and e-mobility.
Baumüller is strengthening its drive and automation business through its system company, Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG – offering Magnus for the automation of material handling and delivery processes. SESTO Robotics is the only robotics company providing AMRs to Baumüller.
“Demand for autonomous mobile robots is growing globally, with the global market expected to reach US$8.3 billion by 2027. To cater to this growing demand, we have been looking for a partner to expand our product portfolio and offer customized automation solutions for businesses. We found the right partner in SESTO Robotics,” said Thomas Scholz, Sales Director of Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik.
“SESTO Magnus’ versatility enables limitless configurations on one single autonomous platform. By adding valuable customization such as collaborative robots, UV and ozone disinfection equipment, scissor lift tables, intelligent racking systems and other individually implementable payloads to Magnus, we will help industries such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical and healthcare achieve the benefits of automation,” he added.
Magnus is powered by SESTO’s proprietary user-friendly interface and can be easily deployed for material transportation using a tablet or laptop. Manufacturing sites in Singapore are notoriously tight on space. As a result, Magnus was designed and optimized to operate in the narrow aisles common in Singapore. Magnus uses its sensors to avoid obstacles, and can reverse and back out of a narrow aisle if there is no room to move around an obstacle in an aisle. The system can then replan a new route to its destination. This intelligent behavior assures facility managers that Magnus is safe to be deployed in environments where there might be a high volume of human traffic.
The Baumüller Group offers a range of services that includes engineering, assembly and industrial relocation as well as services.
