Techmetics was one of the first OEMs for Adept Technology’s Lynx autonomous mobile robots (AMR). At that point in time, Techmetics was headquartered in Singapore where they built an installed base in Southeast Asia. When Adept was acquired by OMRON in 2015, Techmetics became an OMRON OEM and continued on their path to design and deliver innovative payloads for the (rebranded) OMRON LD mobile robot platform.

The company moved its headquarters to the Silicon Valley in 2018 and is now a US-based company. The company builds and deploys mobile robotic solutions for intralogistics, healthcare, disinfection, casino and hospitality applications.

New Techmetics Robotics Vehicles

Techmetics just announced that they have designed a new autonomous mobile robotic platform called Techmetics Robotics Vehicles (TRV). The company is introducing three new autonomous mobile robot bases and is porting ten of its payload solutions to this new product line. The first base models are the Techmetics TRV Mini, TRV Max and TRV Lifter. The TRV Lifter is essentially a TRV Max vehicle with a built in lifter payload on the top.

The TRV is 100% Techmetics intellectual property, however, its based on almost a decade of experience as a mobile robotics integrator and systems developer.

The new products are designed in California and assembled its US facility. The AMRs are safety compliant and able to operate around humans. The AMRS use SICK safety lasers and safety controllers to ensure safe operation. The drive wheel motors also come with a braking system for additional safety. The vehicle is capable of moving between 70 kg (150 lbs) and 200 kg (450 lbs).

The AMR is powered by a LiFePO4 battery, that requires approximately 3.5 hours to recharge. It offers between 12 to 18 hours of continuous operation between recharges. The chassis is IP20.

The entire Techi product line will migrate to the TRV Mini, and the TRV Butler and TRV UV Disinfection solutions are already available. The company has a large installed base of OMRON based solutions and will continue to support those solutions for at least two years.
