Uber Eats to begin autonomous food delivery in Miami using Cartken robots

Uber Technologies, Inc. and Cartken, announced a new partnership for food deliveries via automated robots in Miami, Florida. Consumers who use Uber Eats in Miami will have the option to have their food orders delivered by Cartken’s self-driving robot.

Uber and Cartken will begin operating with select merchants in the Dadeland area of Miami-Dade County with plans to expand in Miami-Dade and to additional cities in 2023.

Cartken’s AI-powered sidewalk delivery robots are used across the country to deliver food and groceries to neighborhoods, deliver meals to college campuses, and pick up orders at the curb. Prior to this partnership announcement, Cartken had been working with a local food delivery app called REEF as it tested food deliveries in the Miami area.

Uber’s partnership with Cartken is an expansion of the company’s efforts to use automated and autonomous technology to unlock greater innovation for consumers and merchant partners in Miami and beyond.
